Online WHMIS Training

This online WHMIS training course provides workers with a practical understanding of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and how to apply its requirements in Canadian workplaces. The course is designed to help participants recognize hazardous products, understand the information provided on labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), and make informed decisions that reduce the risk of exposure, injury, illness, and workplace incidents.

Participants will learn how to identify and interpret supplier and workplace labels, understand WHMIS pictograms, recognize hazard classes and categories, and locate important health, physical, and environmental hazard information within a Safety Data Sheet. The course also explains the responsibilities of employers, supervisors, and workers under WHMIS, emphasizing the importance of following established safe work procedures and workplace-specific controls.

Throughout the training, learners are introduced to practical examples that demonstrate how WHMIS applies to everyday work activities involving hazardous products. Topics include proper handling, storage, use, disposal, emergency response procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE), and the actions workers should take if labels are missing, damaged, or unreadable.

By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to recognize hazardous products, access critical safety information, and work safely with chemicals and other controlled products in accordance with current Canadian WHMIS requirements. This training supports regulatory compliance while helping employers strengthen due diligence and promote a safer, healthier workplace.
