Ethics and Integrity at Calgary Safety Consultants

At Calgary Safety Consultants, ethics and integrity aren’t a slogan. They shape the work we accept, the advice we give and every document we put our name on.

Our principal consultant is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and is bound by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. For you, that means honest advice, protected information and no promises we can’t keep.

This page explains how we work, what you can expect from us and who we’re the right fit for. If those values match yours, we’d be glad to hear from you.

Ethics and integrity at Calgary Safety Consultants: a health and safety consultant reviewing a proposal and safety manual with a company owner.

Professional accountability

Professional Accountability You Can Check

The CRSP designation comes with obligations, and those obligations are set and enforced by an independent professional body, not just by us.

Every CRSP commits to follow the BCRSP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, in its spirit as well as its letter, in all their professional work. The Code covers competence, integrity, confidentiality, conflicts of interest and honest claims about qualifications.

The BCRSP also requires ethics training in every professional development cycle, and it runs a formal process for complaints about professional conduct. In other words, our ethical standards are held by an independent professional body. You can read the full Code on the BCRSP website.

Independence

Independent, Impartial Auditing

Calgary Safety Consultants is affiliated with a number of industry organizations and service providers, including Energy Safety Canada, where we’re an external COR auditor.

Alongside auditing, we help companies build and improve their health and safety programs. We keep these roles separate, so our advice, our program work and our audits each stand on their own.

We won’t do an external audit on a health and safety program that we built or helped develop. If we see a possible conflict of interest in any engagement, whether it involves auditing, program work or one of our affiliations, we’ll raise it with you openly before the work starts.

An external audit is only worth something if it’s independent, and we protect that for our clients and for the certifying partners who rely on our results. Learn more about how we confirm independence on our External COR Audits page.

How we work

How Ethics and Integrity Shape Our Work

Four commitments guide every engagement, from a single safety manual to ongoing support.

Honest About What We Do and What We Don’t

We’d rather be clear upfront than disappoint you later. Calgary Safety Consultants provides COR and SECOR consulting, program development and audit-preparation support. We don’t issue COR or SECOR certificates, and no consultant can honestly guarantee certification. Certification is earned through the audit process with your certifying partner.

We’re also clear about where our services stop. When a request falls outside what we do well, we’ll tell you, and point you in the right direction where we can.

Honest Advice, Even When It’s Not What You Hoped to Hear

Good safety advice isn’t always comfortable. If your program has gaps, a hazard isn’t being controlled or a plan won’t hold up at an audit, we’ll tell you plainly and explain why it matters.

We’ll also explain what you can do next and help you prioritize, so the feedback leads somewhere useful. It protects your workers, your operations and your audit results.

Your Information Stays Confidential

What you share with us stays with us. We don’t publish client names, audit findings, incidents or workplace issues without your permission. That’s why the success stories on our website focus on what was solved, not on who had the problem.

Every testimonial on our website is from a real, verified client.

Every Document Is Reviewed and Approved by a CRSP

We use modern tools, including AI-assisted drafting, to work efficiently and keep our services affordable. These tools support our work; they don’t replace professional judgement.

Every manual, procedure, form and report we deliver is reviewed, tailored to your operation and approved by a Canadian Registered Safety Professional before it reaches you.

Fair business

Fair, Transparent Business

You should know what you’re getting and what it costs before any work begins.

  • Every engagement starts with a written, scoped proposal, so the deliverables, timelines and costs are clear from day one.
  • Our package prices are published on our website, so there are no surprises.
  • Our formal documentation comes with a 60-day errors and omissions warranty.
  • Our COR and SECOR program builds include a documentation warranty that covers anything missing from the written documents at your first COR audit or SECOR evaluation within 12 months of delivery.
  • Every inquiry matters to us. We aim to reply within 2–4 hours, or by the next business day.

The right fit

Who We’re the Right Fit For

We do our best work with employers who want to improve, and we’re selective about the engagements we take on because of it.

We’re a good fit if:

  • You want a health and safety program your people actually use, not one that only comes out at audit time.
  • Your leadership is ready to be engaged and hands-on in your safety program.
  • You want straight answers and practical advice that fits how your business really works.
  • You see safety as part of running a better operation, with fewer incidents, lower claims costs and stronger audit results.

We’re probably not the right fit if you’re looking for a manual to sit on a shelf, or if someone else is expected to own your safety program for you. Safety works when the employer leads it, and we’re here to help you do that well.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Ethics and Integrity

Why do ethics and integrity matter when choosing a safety consultant?

Your safety consultant influences how you protect workers, how you respond to regulators and how your program performs at an audit. A consultant with strong ethics and integrity gives you honest advice, keeps your information confidential and won’t promise outcomes they can’t deliver.

Is Calgary Safety Consultants bound by a professional code of ethics?

Yes. Our principal consultant is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional and is bound by the BCRSP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, which includes ongoing ethics training and an independent complaints process.

Can you guarantee we’ll pass our COR audit?

No, and you should be cautious of anyone who says they can. We help you build and prepare a strong program, and our COR and SECOR program builds include a documentation warranty. The audit result itself depends on how your program is put into practice and is decided through the audit process.

Can you do the external audit on a program you helped us build?

No. To keep external audits independent, we don’t do an external audit on any health and safety program we built or helped develop.

Will you share our information or use us as a case study?

Not without your permission. Client confidentiality is a firm commitment for us.

Do you use AI to create safety documents?

We use AI-assisted tools to work efficiently, but every document is reviewed, tailored and approved by a Canadian Registered Safety Professional before delivery.
