Independence
We Only Audit Programs We Didn’t Build
An external audit only means something if the auditor is independent. In Alberta, a consultant who helped develop your health and safety management system can’t carry out your audit.
What this means for you: if we built, advised on or helped maintain your program, including through a starter or certification package, a COR Gap Review, a Mock COR Audit or an ongoing support package, we can’t be your certification auditor. Certifying partners set their own independence rules. With AASP, for example, the auditor can’t have worked for you in the 12 months before a certification or recertification audit. We check your partner’s rule before we quote.

- Employers due for a COR certification or recertification audit.

- Want a practice run first? A Mock COR Audit is a separate service, and it means we can’t be your auditor within your certifying partner’s independence window.
Not included
- Building, fixing or advising on your program. That work would rule us out as your auditor.
- Certifying partner fees and training courses.
- Carrying out your corrective actions after the audit.

Can you audit a program you built?
No. In Alberta, a consultant who helped develop your health and safety management system can’t carry out your audit. If we built or advised on your program, we can point you to an independent auditor.

- What does it cost?
- Our Starter Safety Manual Package, recommended for SECOR, is $1,995 plus GST. Other consulting is quoted per project after the first conversation, so you know the scope and cost up front. Online courses are priced per learner, starting at $24.99, with group quotes for 10 or more workers.
- Do you work with small businesses?
- Yes. Many of our clients are small and mid-sized employers without a full-time safety department, including contractors, manufacturers, non-profits and clinics.
- Can you help with COR, audits and training too?
- Yes. We conduct COR audits and help with COR and SECOR preparation, safety manuals, hazard assessments, compliance audits, emergency response plans, incident investigations and contractor prequalification in ISNetworld, Avetta and ComplyWorks. We also offer online courses including WHMIS, TDG and OH&S leadership. We can’t guarantee that you’ll obtain COR or SECOR, but we warranty our service: if your audit or evaluation raises any issues with our work, we’ll help you resolve them at no additional charge.
